“She’s a good girl.” Is that a compliment ? Weakness and submissiveness !

Tell me I’m good when I act per my conscience. No, I am arrogant then.

“Who am I?”, I wonder. I have tried things like “You are a soul living inside a body”.That’s not what I am looking for.

What will I find when I cast away all these norms and traits that were forced on me ? Will I get in touch with my real feelings ?

Do I have any?

I have to find my voice.
It’s in here somewhere.
I’ve heard it once or twice.
Who choked its throat ?
“The truth shall set you free”, shall it ?
I’m looking through a colored glass.
Customs, Manners, Elders, neighbors,
Perception! Who wants the truth ?

Lord, teach me to observe, not merely see;
To listen and not just  hear
To mean what I say and to say what I mean
to have some convictions and to stand up for them
and never  forget these are my prayers.
